Course Information:

This 2 hour Colorado pre-license education course is required by the NMLS for obtaining a mortgage origination license in the state of Colorado.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The course will be loaded into your account on the selected start date and the selected time. As per NMLS education regulations, you will have 12 hours to complete the course from the chosen start date/time until your access is terminated.

This course meets the required 2 hours of NMLS-approved Colorado state-specific education needed to obtain license in the state of Colorado. It is presented in an online instructor-led video course with supplementary literature and content. The course is made up of 4 chapters broken into 5 minute sections that require clicking to advance to the next slide and includes a handful of small quizzes. After completing the introduction to the course, each section will start with an average duration of 5 minutes per section. Each 5 minute section will be followed by an activity. These activities can be either short quizzes or case studies focusing on certain concepts.

At the end of each chapter, there is a chapter quiz with a final exam at the end of the course. Students must complete all presentations and activity sections, all quizzes and tests, and the final exam in order to receive credit for the course. After completing the course, students will receive a certificate of completion.

2 Hour Colorado Online Instructor Led PE Course Outline

 

Chapter 1: Colorado Department of Regulatory Authorities, Colorado Law and Regulatory Definitions

This chapter covers the state regulators, Division of Real Estate, departments agency structure and limitations, MLO Licensing Act Definitions and Colorado Law and Regulation Definitions.

Chapter 2: Colorado License Law and Regulation

This chapter covers laws and regulations for the mortgage industry specific to the state of Colorado. Included is information including: persons required to be licensed, license qualifications and application process, grounds for license denial, and license maintenance.

Chapter 3: Compliance

This chapter covers laws and regulations for the mortgage industry specific to the state of Colorado. Included is information including: persons required to be licensed, license qualifications and application process, grounds for license denial, and license maintenance.

Chapter 4: Disciplinary Action

This chapter covers compliance with Colorado mortgage lending law. This chapter includes sections on: prohibited acts and practices, secondary loans, disclosure and advertising requirements.

Final Exam & Completion Form

This 50 question final exam will assess your understanding of the course. After passing the final exam, complete the course completion form in order to receive credit. An optional end-of-course survey may be filled out as well to provide feedback to Mortgage Educators & Compliance.

Course Credit Submission

The NMLS requires that education providers report education credit hours within 7 calendar days. Mortgage Educators & Compliance generally reports education credits within 1-2 business days. If you do not see your education credits reflected or would like expedited credit banking, contact MEC support.

Colorado PE Requirements

New state-licensed MLOs are required to complete 20 hours of NMLS-approved education. This education must include 3 hours of Federal law, 3 hours of ethics (which shall include fraud, consumer protection, and fair lending issues), 2 hours of non-traditional mortgage lending, 8 hours of undefined education (referred to as electives) + 2 hours of Colorado law. 

Number of hours is 3/3/2/8 + 2 hr of CO law = 20
