This multimedia continuing education course is presented in an online video format. the course is made up of HD video sections averaging 5 minutes in length. Video sections are followed by quiz material and culminate in a course cumulative final exam. The course is presented by David Luna.

The course is made up of 6 chapters broken into 5 minute sections that require clicking to advance to the next video. After completing the initial introduction to the course, each section will start the next video. At the end of that video, students click to advance to a one question quiz that focuses on that specific section. After answering the question, the student clicks to move on to the next video section. In some cases, these quizzes are replaced with real-world case studies to help students see real-world application of concepts.



At the end of each chapter, a chapter quiz is presented. At the end of the course, a cumulative final exam is given. Once passed, the student's course completion certificate will be available. Students must complete all presentation and activity sections, all quizzes and tests, and the final exam of 25 questions to receive a certificate of completion and credit for the course.

7 Hour NMLS Continuing Education Course Outline


Chapter 1 - Fair Credit Reporting Act, Identity Theft, and Security Freezes

In this chapter, we are going to discuss Identity Theft and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. This chapter will include a discussion of what identity theft is, and the red flags associated with identity theft. The chapter will then transition into a conversation about the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the 2018 changes made to it, including free credit/security freezes and fraud alerts.

Chapter 2 - TILA-RESPA Integrated Disclosure Rule

In this chapter, we will be discussing the Truth-in-Lending/Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act Integrated Disclosure Rule (TRID). This chapter will include sections on recurring Loan Estimate issues, changed circumstances, tolerance violations, and timelines. These topics are required by the NMLS because they continue to come up on examinations and investigations as recurring issues. 

Chapter 3 - Gramm-Leach Bliley and the Right to Financial Privacy Act

In this chapter, we will be discussing information privacy. Specifically, we are going to discuss the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and the Right to Financial Privacy Act. We will be reviewing these two privacy laws and talk about how they apply to MLOs daily activities.

Chapter 4 - Anti-Money Laundering and the Bank Secrecy Act

In this chapter, we will be discussing Anti-Money Laundering and the Bank Secrecy Act. In this chapter, we will do a quick review of AML/BSA and give a quick update on some topics we covered last year including virtual currency and current policy related to marijuana and money laundering.

Chapter 5 - Non-Qualified Mortgage Products

In this chapter, we are going to discuss non-qualified mortgage products or Non-QM products. We are going to discuss the new importance of non-QM products, market trends, and discuss some examples of some Non-QM products that are available on the market.


Chapter 6 - Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac Update

In this chapter, we will discuss reverse mortgages. Specifically, we will be discussing how a reverse mortgage works, the new changes made by HUD to the Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) program, how to qualify your borrower and how to avoid key problems and complaints that come up when dealing with reverse borrowers. 


Chapter 7 - Fair Lending

In this chapter, we are going to discuss multiple case studies related to fair lending. We will talk about federal law related to fair lending and discuss multiple case studies that are new or ongoing.
